This Porsche 911 / 993 Cup Racer was photographed at the Automobile Club Speedway in Fontana, California during the Festival of Speed weekend. This is the last model Porsche made with an air cooled engine from 1994 to 1998, they are still in high demand and competing. This image was panned to accentuate speed by blurring the wheels and the track, but not so much as to lose the writing on the containing wall in the background. Of all Porsche 911 models my personal favorite is the 993 because of the body style and the power, simplicity and reliability of the best, and last, air cooled engine that came out of the Porsche factory. This car’s body has been modified with larger fender for wider tires, plexiglas windshield and windows, rear wing and front spoiler, and many other modifications to create a true race car. Race cars are very loud because they have no mufflers, the cars that we drive everyday would be very loud too if we were to remove the muffler and other exhaust equipment designed to have a quieter car and cut down on emissions. All these parts however, rob the engine of power. The 993 and other air cooled engines have a great, unmistakable sound that is music to the ears of Porsche fans.
