When a sports hero passes away, great images from his or her career become all the more valuable and precious, and it is never lost on us what a vital role photography plays in people's lives. This photo we took of famed French Canadian Ferrari driver Gilles Villeneuve in the middle of a hairpin turn at an F1 race in Long Beach California is a wonderful memory of a great driver doing what he loved to do. Villeneuve had a stellar career and was at the top of his field, driving for Ferrari for all 6 years of his F1 career until his fatal accident during qualifying rounds at the Belgian Grand Prix in 1982. His son Jacques followed in his footsteps and became the only Canadian to win the Formula One World Championship.
